Home builders pull in the reins on new-home production

In an ongoing effort to curb the excessive inventory, housing starts in January saw little movement.

“Builders continue to do what they need to do to reduce the inventory of units on the market, both by limiting new production and pulling fewer permits for new homes,” said Sandy Dunn, a home builder from Point Pleasant, W. Va., and newly elected president of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
