Homestead exemption in Florida is filed with the Property Appraiser's office where the home is located

Homestead exemptions can be filed in Florida between January 1 - March 1. You should call or visit the Property Appraiser of your county to receive details on filing for the exemption. The following are 4 of the Central Florida Property Appraiser pages that discuss homestead exemptions.

Q: I live in Orlando, where do I file for my homestead exemption?

Home owners have until March 2, 2009 to file their homestead exemption. In Orlando and Orange County you have 3 ways to file:

ONLINE:
www.ocpafl .org
A User name and Password is required to complete the online application.
This will be provided via mail 4-6 weeks after sale/closing

Where do I file for a homestead exemption in Kissimmee?

Homestead exemptions need to be filed between January 1 and March 1. You can file for your homestead exemption in Kissimmee at:

Osceola County Government Center
2505 East Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy
Kissimmee, Florida
8:00-5:00, Mon-Fri

According to the Osceola Property Appraiser's site, in order to file your exemption you will need:
  • A copy of the deed
  • Florida driver's license
  • Voter registration or Declaration of Domicile
  • Vehicle registration
  • Social Security Number

If you are not a citizen of the United States or are filing on a mobile home, you can receive additional details and information on those and other matters by visiting the Osceola site here.
