Foreclosure scam

Sell your home

I can't imagine the stress a home owner is feeling as they face the very real possibility of foreclosure. I am sure it is intense and suffocating. I would think it is because of this huge burden and the owner's inability to rationally consider viable options, that they are more likely to fall victim to a foreclosure scam.

The MercuryNews.com reported on a foreclosure scam recently discovered in San Diego. It seems scam artists were able to convince several home owners that they could avoid foreclosure by turning their home into an independent nation. Doesn't that sound far fetched? How could anyone fall for something that would seem so obviously wrong? Of course those who are creating these illegal schemes and bilking innocent people out of thousands of dollars understand the tremendous stress the person is under and how they are eager for help, any help regardless of what it is.

Don't get caught. When approached or when you seek the help of anyone who is making the claim they can help you avoid foreclosure, check them out thoroughly. Ask a friend to review the information, contact an attorney or real estate professional.

If you are in Florida and you think you are a victim of a foreclosure scam you can call 1-866-9-NO-SCAM (1-866-966-7226) or visit the Attorney General website for more information.
